Before undergoing surgery, the biopsy was performed on a child that revealed that this was not the case of a heart attack usually found in elders.

The bypass surgery was carried out under the guidance of Dr. V Suresh Kumar of the cardiothoracic department. Dr. Krishna, Dr. Kishore, Dr. Mahesh carried out the bypass surgery with the team of assistants along with expert anesthesia doctors Dr. Gopalakrishnan, Dr. Sheela Varghese, Dr. Jayanthi and Dr. Amritha and the technicians Nishana and Anuradha.

“Artherosclerosis is a rare disease that affects the blood vessels of children. It is not affected because of food habits, smoking and drinking. But still, it’s an alarming fact that heart attack is becoming a common problem in younger people,” said Dr. George Koshy, professor of the cardiology department.
