Dr. Chandrashekhar Kulkarni, with the support of his consultant team, Global Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, India successfully treated a 76- years old man from Oman as he suffered from the major heart problem. The proven and established technique has implemented on the patient who has many advantages of most critical cases of heart with lower the risk of tissue injury and infection. After the treatment from minimally invasive cardiac surgery, the old man is back on track with performing daily chores with ease.

“Bypass surgery was essential in his case. We aimed to reduce his chances of future heart attacks and sudden cardiac death. Our team planned for his surgery, which would improve his heart functionality. His age and complicated heart history with an additional 20 years of diabetes history all the complications made him have higher risk even after we treated him. Looking after all the complications our team planned for the cardiac bypass surgery that would benefit him.” Said Dr. Chandrashekhar Kulkarni, Consultant, CVTS, Global Hospital, Parel,  Mumbai.

He further added, “We took the risk and challenged ourselves and performed minimal invasive cardiac surgery as planned. This surgery had the smallest scar, no bone cutting, lesser chance of infection, and less blood loss. As the patient had diabetes, the chances of infection were more. After all the research and planning in the last week of November, we performed the surgery which lasted for 4-5 hours and the patient was out of ICU in 2 days and started walking step to step. By the 5th day, he started climbing a couple of steps and walking around a few meters.”

“After the long-suffering, I thought it would all end, but back in Oman, I could opt for surgery owing to my age. Global Hospitals and doctors saved my life and now I am in Oman happy with the new life. Doctor’s helped me with the assurance and underwent risky surgery for me. I thank all of the supporting staff for helping me, now I am not anymore dependent on a walker and started my new life. I learned not to lose hope if situations are critical, keep the hope within and keep fighting.”  Concluded Mr. Khalfan Manaa Bakhit Almamari.
